Dr. Gregory Batchelor
About Pastor Greg
Greg came to HRBC in April 2016 after he sensed God calling him to reach out to the city of Florence. He has two daughters. After graduation from Hartsville High, Greg attended Coker College on a baseball scholarship. While pitching for the Cobras, he also ran on the Cross Country team his Junior and Senior years. After graduation from Coker with a degree in Chemistry, Greg attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He obtained a Masters of Divinity with Biblical Languages. Nine years later, he graduated SEBTS again with a Doctorate of Ministry in Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth.
Greg's favorite food is "anything Mexican." Even though he coached baseball for 8 years in the public school, his favorite sport now is golf. He is still an adrenaline junkie and loves being outside.
His favorite passages include Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 1:8, and Acts 2:38-47. One of his favorite expressions is "This life here on earth is not all that there is." He believes time is of the essence and the mission is great. He is thankful God called him to lead the congregation of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church.

It was there that he started singing country music at an early age. By his teenage years, Bill had won several national contests and was selected, out of hundreds, for a chance to sing in Nashville. He continued his dreams of stardom until his life was changed forever. In 1998, at Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church, in Florence SC, Bill and his wife gave their lives to Jesus when they accepted Him as Lord and Savior. Since that day, he has been trying to live out his faith and point people to Christ in all that he does.
After his re-birth almost 22 years ago, Bill has felt God’s clear calling to minister to His people. He was ordained in 2002 and sent forth to share the Good News of God’s love through song and testimony as a Music Evangelist. In 2010, he stepped out in faith and attended Fruitland Baptist Bible College as a full-time student. After college, Bill has served as Worship Pastor for several churches in NC but has always dreamed of returning to HRBC. After much prayer and searching, God has brought them full circle back to their home church where they were both saved. "Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation." Psalm 95:1
They are thankful to be home and thankful for the opportunity and privilege of serving the people of HRBC alongside a team of amazing and devoted staff and volunteers, ALL for God’s glory.
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100:1-5
