Day 2: True Worship: Giving Worth to God
Bible Verse
'While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.' - Acts 13:2-3

What comes to mind when you hear the word 'worship'? Many people immediately think of singing songs in church or raising hands during a service. While these can be expressions of worship, true worship goes much deeper than our Sunday morning activities. Worship is fundamentally about giving worth to God - recognizing His value, His character, and His rightful place in our lives. It's not about the style of music, the volume of the sound system, or how emotionally moved we feel. It's about acknowledging who God is and responding accordingly.
This means worship happens throughout our week, not just on Sundays. When we choose integrity in a difficult situation because we honor God, that's worship. When we serve others sacrificially because we recognize God's love for them, that's worship. When we use our talents and resources to glorify Him rather than ourselves, that's worship. The church at Antioch understood this principle. They didn't just gather for religious activities; they lived lives that gave worth to God. Their individual worship throughout the week fueled their corporate worship when they came together. They understood that authentic worship flows from hearts that are genuinely engaged with God's character and purposes.
As we grow in our understanding of true worship, we'll find that our entire lives become an offering to God, not just the hour we spend in church each week.

Reflection Question:
How can you give worth to God through your daily activities and choices this week?
How can you give worth to God through your daily activities and choices this week?
Quote:
"Just because you meet at 11 o' clock and have a worship service doesn't necessarily mean you have a worship service. Worship is giving worth to God."

Prayer:
Father, help me understand that worship is more than singing songs - it's giving You the worth You deserve in every area of my life. Transform my heart so that my work, relationships, and daily choices all reflect Your glory and honor Your name. Amen.
