Day 3: The Gift of Godly Counsel

Bible Verse
'Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!' - Matthew 7:9-11
God rarely works in isolation. Throughout Scripture, we see Him using people to speak His will and provide guidance to others. Even in Hagar's story, God worked through Sarah to communicate His plan to Abraham. This reveals an important truth: we need godly people in our lives who can offer biblical counsel and perspective when we're struggling to see clearly. But not all advice is created equal. The people we turn to for guidance should display the fruit of the Spirit in their own lives - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Their lives should clearly reflect their love for Jesus. This is why consistent involvement in a local church body is so crucial. It's in these relationships that we find the support, accountability, and wisdom we need to navigate life's challenges with biblical truth.
Reflection Question:
Who in your life consistently displays the fruit of the Spirit and could provide you with godly counsel during difficult times?
Quote:
How do you know that the people you're going to provide you with godly counsel? Well, look at their life. Their life will display the fruit of the spirit.
Prayer:
Lord, surround me with wise, godly people who will speak Your truth into my life. Help me to be humble enough to receive their counsel and guidance.
