Day 1: Beyond the Pulpit: Leadership That Knows Your Name

Bible Verse
'So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.' - Ephesians 4:11-13
Leadership in the church extends far beyond delivering Sunday sermons. True spiritual leadership involves knowing people personally, understanding their struggles, and walking alongside them in their faith journey. When leaders invest in individual relationships, they create an environment where spiritual growth can flourish. Many churches struggle with high dropout rates because leadership remains distant and impersonal.

But effective spiritual leaders follow the example of Jesus, who knew His disciples intimately and cared for their specific needs. They protect their flock from spiritual dangers and provide individualized guidance. This kind of leadership creates lasting impact. When someone knows your name, understands your story, and genuinely cares about your spiritual development, it transforms your church experience from mere attendance to meaningful community. You feel valued, supported, and equipped to grow.

Consider the leaders in your life who have made the greatest impact. Chances are, they were people who took time to know you personally and invested in your growth beyond formal settings.
Reflection Question:
Who in your church community knows you by name and takes a personal interest in your spiritual growth?
Quote:
I can't be a good shepherd if I don't know the sheep. I want to know your name.
- Dr. Gregory Batchelor
Prayer:
Lord, help me both seek out and become the kind of leader who invests personally in others. Give me courage to build meaningful relationships within my church community.
