Day 5: The God of Second Chances
Bible Verse
'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.' - 1 John 1:9
'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.' - 1 John 1:9
The beauty of communion lies not in our worthiness, but in God's grace. When self-examination reveals our failures and shortcomings, we might feel tempted to disqualify ourselves from the table. But that's exactly when we need to remember that we serve a God of second chances. The requirement isn't perfection—it's confession. When we honestly acknowledge our sins and bring them to God, He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us.
This is the heart of the gospel: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Unconfessed sin is dangerous, not because God stops loving us, but because it creates barriers in our relationship with Him. But confession opens the door to restoration and renewed fellowship. Every time we approach the communion table, we're reminded that no matter how many times we've failed, God's grace is sufficient, His mercy is new every morning, and His love never fails.

Reflection Question:
How does knowing that God offers second chances change your willingness to confess your sins and approach Him honestly?
