Day 4: Standing at the Water's Edge
Bible Verse
'And as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest), the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho.' - Joshua 3:15-16
The Israelites stood at the Jordan River, staring at rushing waters that blocked their path to the Promised Land. God had promised to part the waters, but they had to step in first. Their next step would reveal what they truly believed about God's faithfulness. You may be standing at your own water's edge today - facing a decision that requires faith, confronting a challenge that seems impossible, or stepping into something God has called you to do. It's easy to sing 'Wherever He Leads I'll Go' in church, but much harder when you're actually standing at the edge of the unknown. Your next step - whether forward in faith or backward in fear - reveals what you really believe about God's character and promises.
Reflection Question:
What 'water's edge' are you standing at right now, and what is your next step of faith?
What 'water's edge' are you standing at right now, and what is your next step of faith?
Quote:
Your very next step will reveal what you really believe about the Lord.
Your very next step will reveal what you really believe about the Lord.
Prayer:
God, give me courage to step forward in faith, trusting that You will make a way where there seems to be no way.
God, give me courage to step forward in faith, trusting that You will make a way where there seems to be no way.
