Day 1: Prayer: Our First Response, Not Last Resort

Bible Verse
'These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.' - Acts 1:14
When life gets difficult, what's your first instinct? Most of us reach for our phones, call a friend, or immediately start brainstorming solutions. But the early church had a radically different approach. When they faced persecution, opposition, or uncertainty, their immediate response was prayer. They didn't treat prayer as a last resort when all else failed - it was their primary weapon and their first line of defense. This wasn't just a nice religious habit; it was the secret to their explosive growth and supernatural boldness. While we often turn to programs, consultants, or our own efforts when challenges arise, the early believers understood something profound: prayer connects us to unlimited divine resources. They experienced God's power because they consistently sought His face first. Consider how different your life might look if prayer became your automatic response to every situation. Instead of anxiety driving your decisions, what if dependence on God shaped your choices? The early church's example challenges us to examine whether we're truly living by faith or simply managing life through human wisdom and effort.
Reflection Question:
When you face a challenge or crisis, is prayer your first response or your last resort?
Quote:
Prayer was the primary response of the church. It was not the last resorts.
Prayer:
Lord, help me develop the habit of turning to You first in every situation. Transform my natural instincts so that prayer becomes my immediate response to both challenges and blessings.
